MY STORY
When I was 10 years old I began suffering from allergies. Some of these symptoms were undiagnosed but clearly allergy related. When I was in my early 20’s and would have a reaction to something, I would be sick for days and very tired. One day I came across a clinic called “A New Start Allergy Clinic”. That is when I discovered NAET. NAET treatments made my immune system much stronger and I started feeling more energetic, less headaches, I could eat what I wanted and felt overall much happier. That is when I realized I wanted to help others find health.
I had already attended the University of New Brunswick and graduated with honors with a diploma in Forestry and Environmental Management. With this education I constantly found myself working jobs related to medicinal plants. I spent 8 months in Guatemala doing an internship with CIDA, which focused on the development of an educational forest. I worked on projects involving reforestation of native species as well as developing a system for locals to identify plants and their common use in all aspects including medicine. Health was always part of who I was and I always wanted to learn more.
In 2006 I began my journey with school to become a NAET practitioner. I enrolled in the Acupuncture program at the Academy of Classical and Oriental Sciences in Nelson, BC. NAET is based on Chinese Medicine so it was essential for me to complete this program.
I became so inspired with Chinese Medicine and all that it offers. I loved studying women’s health and decided to do my thesis on pre and post natal health as well as the benefits of Chinese Medicine for mother’s during birth. When I graduated I received the Registrar’s Award.
After completing the Acupuncture program, I was qualified to start taking NAET courses in Los Angeles. Dr. Devi Nambudripad, the inventor of NAET, was my teacher and I returned 4 more times to complete more courses.

NAET
WHAT IS NAET
NAET is an acronym for Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Technique. NAET, first developed in California, is based on principles from the fields of allopathic (Western medical knowledge), chiropractic, acupuncture, kinesiology, and nutrition. NAET is a natural, non-invasive, and drug-free holistic treatment.
HOW NAET WORKS
Everything on earth has an electromagnetic field, including foods, pollens, hormones, neurotransmitters, in fact anything you can think of. We work with vials that are imprinted with the electromagnetic field. When you hold a vial your body will "read" or register exactly what that item is, and your body will also know whether you are compatible with it or not compatible. Non-compatible means you are sensitive or allergic to the item.
Several negative things happen when you have an allergic reaction. You can have a rash, or mucous, or an asmatic attack. If you are allergic to a food, your body will have trouble digesting and absorbing the nutrients fully from that allergic food. We also find you can be sensitive or allergic to vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, amino acids, hormones, or neurotransmitters. In fact Dr. Devi has said you can be allergic to "anything under the sun, including the sun".
Most of our patients thus have complaints of fatigue, brain fog, and "just not feeling well" as a result of malabsorption of necessary nutrients. When we treat the allergy the body can then begin to absorb and utilize these necessary nutrients, improving overall health.
We use Muscle testing based on the work of Dr. George Goodheart who developed Applied Kinesiology. We can diagnose your sensitivities and allergies using this technique that is extensively used in the chiropractic and alternative health field.
Traditional Acupuncture theory for 3000 years has said that your life force or Chi flows through energy pathways they have identified and called "meridians". When you have a blockage of the meridian pathway you will have a symptom or illness. Allergies will cause major blockages of meridian energy. The originators of Chiropractic taught that chemicals and allergies could cause disruption of correct nerve transmission. Dr. Devi realized that holding the allergen vial was starting that process of meridian and nerve disruption. She theorized that if she opened and balanced the meridian flow, and worked with the spinal nerves including stimulation of the sympathetics in the thoracic spine (while holding the item or vial), that the body would re-program to accept the allergy. This proved to work, and the breakthrough treatment worked with any class of allergen, whether food or pollen or chemical.
The human body including the nervous system is always processing the environment for survival. We believe that the nervous system will always classify something as "safe" or "not safe". The "not safe" category should include viruses and bacteria and not much else. Allergies are a example of the body mistakenly labeling something as "not safe". NAET reprograms the body to more correctly put the item in the "safe" category, thus clearing the allergy. Reprogramming has the advantage of being a fast therapy- it is far easier and quicker to reprogram than to de-sensitize, which has been the traditional allopathic approach. NAET has the additional advantage of being able to help treat any category of allergy, whether it is food, or pollen, or chemical, or fabrics, animals, or any other class of reaction...
ALLERGY TESTING
We offer allergy testing for foods and other items. The blood sample testing analyses IgG and IgE antibodies. This test comprises of a simple little prick on a finger tip to collect a blood sample. There is a recommended diet protocol to follow 2 weeks prior to completing this test. This will help in a more accurate and complete results.

Premium Assistance
You may qualify for government premium assistance, based on your income. MSP will contribute a portion of the cost toward visits made to supplementary healthcare providers such as massage therapists, acupuncturists, chiropractors, physiotherapists, naturopaths and podiatrists. RMTs are primary contact providers, therefore you do not require a physician’s referral for MSP coverage. MSP allows for a total of 10 treatments per calendar year divided between these therapeutic modalities. You do NOT require a doctors referral for treatment, however you will be required to pay the entire amount of treatment and then submit your receipt and seek reimbursement. Employee Benefit Plan
Most extended medical plans will cover 75-100% of the treatment fees up to an annual limit. Please check with your insurer to confirm details and to determine if you require a Doctor’s referral. You will be required to pay the entire amount of treatment and then submit your receipt to seek reimbursement.
Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine
The philosophical framework for the practice of acupuncture is grounded in Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). TCM offers a perspective on the nature of illness and health that is uniquely different from, and is complementary to Western Medicine. In TCM, human beings are deeply connected with all the phenomena of nature; formed from, and nourished by natures’ essential elements, influenced by its rhythms and subject to its laws of growth and change. Health can be defined as a harmonious relationship between ones’ own internal condition and ones’ external environment; there must be a balance between ones’ body/mind/spirit and ones’ relationship with nature.
In TCM theory, the human body is an energetic system in which energy (QI) flows along defined pathways (meridians) throughout the body. When the body is in harmony and balance the flow is smooth. An imbalance disrupts the flow of QI and manifests as pain, dysfunction, injury, disease and/or disorders. Acupuncture is a therapy to restore the flow of Qi to promote health and balance.
Acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine needles into specific points on the surface of the body. These points lie on pathways called Meridians through which our blood and vital energy – known as Qi – flow. Illness or pain results from the disregulation in this flow or a blockage along the pathway. Problems in the flow of these Meridians will cause pain and dysfunction and compromise our immune system. Physical trauma or viruses and bacteria can block the flow but so can emotions. The TCM practitioner chooses points along the Meridians involved in the patient’s complaint to help restore communication within and between these pathways.
Does acupuncture hurt?
Acupuncture needles are extremely fine and cause very little sensation when inserted. Acupuncture does, however, result in a unique local sensation that varies from person to person and has been described as any of the following: aching, electric, distending or tingling. Some patients also describe a sensation of warmth or coolness.
For many years I have suffered with seasonal allergies. My symptoms were runny, stuffy nose, itchy watery eyes and low energy. After completing the full round of NAET treatments with Sophie Richard, this whole year I have been allergy free! I have been familiar with NAET for at least nine years now having had all the basic treatments with another practitioner in another province. For as long as I can remember I have always had pain throughout my body. Almost immediately that pain went away with the NAET treatment. My doctor is currently treating me for a hypothyroid. “Our daughter contracted moluscum contagiosum at 18 months old, we watched as the warts spread from her armpit down her arm and across her chest over the next 5 months.
